Traveling as a family is fun, exciting, adventurous, and EXHAUSTING! You know what is not exhausting? Traveling as a couple! We have always tried to go away for a couple nights, a couple times a year. Some years we’ve squeezed in an extra trip and some years have been less but we cherish those getaways whenever we can get one. The Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel in 2017 was one of our favorites. The hotel was beautiful, service was outstanding, but the best part is the view.
We stayed in an amazing Fireside Patio Room that had gorgeous views of the ocean. We had a relaxing breakfast on the patio one morning and wine and s’mores in the evening. The room was smaller than we expected but with that patio, we spent little time in the room.
Something we enjoy when we are on vacation alone is working out or going for long walks together. This hotel does not disappoint when it comes to either. You can work out in their gym with views of the ocean or go for a walk along the beach and see the beautiful homes. We did both!

The pool at this hotel is lovely and surrounded by a garden-like atmosphere but it’s unfortunate that it doesn’t overlook the ocean. Being on the backside of the hotel does keep it protected from the ocean breeze which helps keep it warmer but it would have been nice to be able to see the ocean from our lounge chairs. The food was good but pricey so we were happy to share a nice lunch poolside. We find that no matter what type of hotel we stay at, most are happy to split meals for you by the pool.
If you do want that beach experience, the hotel offers Beach Butler service. The resort is set up on a cliff above the beach with a walkable path down to the sand but the hotel makes it even easier to spend a day by the water. The Beach Shuttle takes you down to the sand and a Butler sets up your umbrella, chairs, towels, and even has sunscreen. This resort is luxury at it’s finest.
